CNE announces final results: victory for Guebuza and FRELIMO
Armando Emilio Guebuza and FRELIMO Party were yesterday announced the winners of the fourth presidential and legislative elections in the country. The elections results were officially announced by the President of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Joao Leopoldo da Costa. However, the CNE said it had received no complaint or protest by competitors, which contrasts with the position of RENAMO and MDM that came several times protesting about some aspects of the election.

PR received new ambassadors
The President of the Republic, Armando Guebuza, received yesterday in Maputo, credentials of new ambassadors from Cuba, Germany, South Africa and India. These are Aristides Rafael López (Cuba), Ulrich Klockner (Germany), Adikgang Moopeloa (South Africa) and Ashok Amroha (India).
Speaking at the end of the ceremony that took place in the Presidency, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Oldemiro Baloi, said that Mozambique has excellent cooperation relations in various fields with the origin countries of the received ambassadors.

Former RENAMO guerrillas distance themselves from their leader
A group of former RENAMO guerrillas housed in the residential complex of glass, in Maputo, said last Sunday that distance themselves from the bellicose speeches of Afonso Dhlakama, and also expressed their refusal to leave the place where they live, against an order given by their leader.
Speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal, they reported that Dhlakama have sold that complex for one million five hundred thousand dollars to a private.

General elections - Daviz Simango congratulates winners
Daviz Simango, the President of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), congratulated yesterday in Beira (Sofala province), the winning candidate of 2009 presidential elections, Armando Emilio Guebuza, as well as FRELIMO for the majority achieved in the legislative elections.
Reacting to the results announcement by CNE, Simango also wished success to the winners in the performance of their duties, although he noted that this victory reflected the will of the electoral bodies.
