Constitutional Council shall decide on appeals of 14 parties
The term granted by law to the Constitutional Council to rule for resources submitted by 14 political parties and coalitions contesting the decisions of the National Electoral Commission to exclude them from the electoral race for the Parliament and the Provincial Assemblies ends today. According to its Organic Law, this body has a period of eleven days, starting on the 15th September, to rule definitively concerning these claims.
In order to comply with this statute, the judges of the Constitutional Council did all that was in their power to expedite the examination of legal resources.

Nampula: 19 detained since the start of election campaign
Nineteen people have been arrested during the first two weeks of the electoral campaign, in Nampula, the largest constituency of Mozambique. The rampage involving members of different parties covered 29 persons, of whom 19 were arrested, stated Maneque Antonio de Oliveira, head of the Public Relations Department of the Provincial Command of the Police in Mozambique.
According to António de Oliveira Maneque, most of the detainees are militants of RENAMO, the main opposition party. The arrests are due to skirmishes, especially in the districts of Murrupula, Angoche, Mozambique Island, Mogovolas Erato, Muecate, Ribaué, Nacala-Porto, Nampula Rapale, Meconta, Mogincual Mecuburi, and the provincial capital itself.

MDM accused of collecting voter cards
One hundred and eighty-nine people were without voter cards in the town of Massinga, in Inhambane. The cards were taken by individuals posing as members of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), allegedly to complete list tables for the polling station in the ballot scheduled for 28 October.
A voter who reported the case to the police said people who were forced to hand over the card and voter identity cards are not supporters of the party Daviz Simango. He did not even know for what purpose their documents were collected. The police, alerted by a complaint forwarded by the owner of one of identity cards, has developed an investigation that culminated in the arrest of one of the targeted that was in possession of the documents claimed. Led to the Police for investigation, the element in question was released after leaving all the documents in the police.

Luis Fonseca will lead the observer mission of the CPLP
Former Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Luis Fonseca, will lead the observer mission of the CPLP to presidential and parliamentary elections in Mozambique, to be held on 28 October. The information was advanced yesterday by the Cape Verdean diplomat.
