THE DEBATE

For today I elected the three news below for debate. The first one is related to the State Budget for this year. If it is true that the Stateºs dependency on foreign aid is reducing, MY CONGRATULATIONS! Therefore,I want to suggest to the government to improve pursuit for corrupt leaders. I see that the Attorney General Office is only finding corrupts of Maputo, the Capital of the country.. I suggest that it can expand its rigourous services to the provinces and districts. I believe that, if we apply fairly the funds, we should not need to depend on foreign aid. Here is the challenge!

The second news is related to the failure of the Mozambican currency, the METICAL. What do mozambicans expect? Mozambicans do not produce... Or even, the roads are not good to facilitate the communication between the source of agricultural products (the countryside) and the markets (cities). Farmers of Tete, for example, sell their products in Malawi that is close to their province. Farmers of Niassa and Cabo Delgado prefer to sell their products in Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia. the rehabilitation of roads is part of the governmentºs responsibility! The second thing that I see and cricticize is the tendency of my countryfellows to prefer products and services of the neighboring countries, even when we have in our home country. Letºs change this mentality and improve our market! It begins with you, me and all of us!

The third story is horrible! Torture is against the human rights principles! The Ministry of Justice would thind ways to deal with the detainees who allegedly violate the rules of the jails. Maybe, to ask for training by countries that have been successful in the issue! This a NO COMMENT ISSUE...

HAVE A GOOD DAY, MY PEOPLE!

Dear Nguja,
Congratulations on raising uch important issues for debate. Unfortunately on your first isue you do not give details about for example by how much the government managed to reduce the deficit. I would like to have more data for example on what was the strategy behind the 'success' and which sectors contributed most for the 'success'. Further are we assuming that less dependency is good for good governance in the case of Mozambique?

This are my first issues. Lets keep the debate alive.

Keep in touch,
MA
